Is that call a scam?

The number of scam phone calls is always increasing, so remember to remain diligent when answering the phone or replying to text messages. The most common tactic for a scammer is to make you feel a sense of urgency. Remember:

A local phone number does not guarantee a call is local. Do not trust the caller ID.

If a call makes you feel suspicious or uncomfortable, hang up.

If the caller claims to be from a legitimate organization, hang up and call the the organization directly using an official phone number.

Do NOT ever give out any personal or account information.

Do not engage. Avoid speaking or pressing buttons.

Utilize your phone's built in blocking features.

When in doubt, don't answer the phone. If you do answer, hang up.

If you are unsure, contact the credit union for assistance.
